RAISING UP THE NEXT GENERATION OF MUSIC MINISTERS
Our Program

The Diocese of Austin is launching a network of children’s choirs! These choirs will provide excellent choral training that aligns the mind, and musical skills with a heart for service.
Children will have opportunities to lead worship periodically at their own parishes, and participate in an annual Diocesan combined choir concert with orchestral accompaniment!

The Catechetical Choir
The Catechetical Choir is a grant-funded project in the Diocese of Austin. It is a multi-lingual Children’s Choir focused on passing down the choral tradition of the catholic church, and raising up the next generation of music ministers in the Catholic Church.
Our curriculum resources are written by a multidisciplinary team for grades 4-8, but can be flexible to accommodate some younger, or older children as necessary.
Sounds of the Fathers
Our desire is to shepherd children into relationship with our Church Fathers. To that end The Catechetical Choir is funding the composition of new pieces, written with children in mind.
An Athanasian Song of Peace echoes the words of St. Athanasius in his famous work, “On the Incarnation”. It is a proclamation that when Christ enters our reality, He radically changes and reorients us, and sets us on the path to peace.
St. Ephrem’s Lenten Prayer is a beloved prayer of the Eastern Church written by St. Ephrem the Syrian. Ephrem was a prolific writer of hymns and homilies. Our Catechetical Choirs will have the opportunity to learn all about St. Ephrem, one of the most revered Eastern Fathers.
Mine Forever is taken from the famous prayer of St. Augustine in his “Confessions”.
Please enjoy these early preview of our team, hard at work on “Mine Forever” which echoes the beautiful prayer of St. Augustine.
May our children fall in love with our God- Beauty so ancient and so new!
